A Passion for Plants is in our blood, many of you may have heard of Treseders of Truro (or Cardiff or Sydney), we are all the same family, Cornish nurserymen spanning over 150 years.
It all started with another James Treseder in 1820 whom served his garden apprentership under the great plant hunter William Lobb at Scorrier House Near Redruth. The Truro nurseries at moresk were started in 1839, and are still remembered by many of our customers. They supplied plants to many local gardens large and small, including Heligan, Trewidden, Carhayes, St. Micheals Mount and Tresco. They supplied Trengwainton where they have record of the Magnolia cambellii being bought from Treseders in the 1920’s you can see this magnificent tree still growing in the Campbellii garden. You can also see large tree ferns which also come from Treseders now making a stunning display, Treseders being the First nurseries introducing Treeferns to the Cornish Gardens. The Moresk nurseries sadly closed in the 1980’s when the site was sold and is now the housing estate Treseders Gardens. The acquisition of our site here at Lockengate is the start of an exciting new chapter we hope will carry on for many years to come.
