Wallcottage Nursery

Treseders is a small family run nursery just off the A30 Innis Downs junction between Bodmin and St Austell, covering about 3 acres in the heart of Cornwall.  When you enter the nursery you can walk up more gentle zigzagging paths amongst planted areas to our various display areas and tunnels. treseders.jpgFrom the roadside the site is quite deceptive, you would not know we have so much to offer or how peaceful a place it is to wonder around.

We established the business at Wallcottage nursery in October 2003, therefore the site is under continual development improving grounds & collections. So far we have removed about 20 thirty year old Leylandii trees from the centre of the nursery, letting in a lot more light and reveling stunning views of Hellman Tor. We have developed a tea terrace where you can sit and enjoy a drink and a homemade cake or ice cream on a sunny day. We are constantly adding to the planted beds around the nursery and usually have a plan or project on the go, come and see what we are up to.

We take pride and care in growing our plants, using peat free compost, bio friendly insecticides, no growth regulators & locally sourced material were possible, growing all our plants ourselves.

A Passion For Plants

tree_fern.jpgA Passion for Plants is in our blood, many of you may have heard of Treseders of Truro (or Cardiff or Sydney), we are all the same family, Cornish nurserymen spanning over 150 years.
It all started with another James Treseder in 1820 whom served his garden apprentership under the great plant hunter William Lobb at Scorrier House Near Redruth.

The Truro nurseries at moresk were started in 1839, and are still remembered by many of our customers. They supplied plants to many local gardens large and small, including Heligan, Trewidden, Carhayes, St. Micheals Mount and Tresco. They supplied Trengwainton where they have record of the Magnolia cambellii being bought from Treseders in the 1920’s you can see this magnificent tree still growing in the Campbellii garden. You can also see large tree ferns which also come from Treseders now making a stunning display, Treseders being the First nurseries introducing Treeferns to the Cornish Gardens.
The Moresk nurseries sadly closed in the 1980’s when the site was sold and is now the housing estate Treseders Gardens.

The acquisition of our site here at Lockengate is the start of an exciting new chapter we hope will carry on for many years to come.
